Things to Do
We love Philadelphia almost as much as we love each other. If you have time to kill while you’re in town, we have compiled a list of our favorite things to do and places to eat and drink!
Food & Drink
Reading Terminal Market. Historic indoor market on the east side of Center City with restaurants, locally-sourced groceries and fine foods. 12th & Filbert.
Italian Market. One of America’s oldest continuously operated outdoor markets, spanning 20 city blocks in South Philadelphia. Not just Italian food - check out Taqueria La Prima! 9th & Washington.
Parc. Fabulous French food looking out on Rittenhouse Square, close to where we work. 18th & Rittenhouse.
Picnic. Delicious American fare (we usually get a dozen oysters and the lamb porterhouse) with a built-in wine shop in Olde Kensington. 2421 Martha.
What about cheesesteak? Time to make some people angry!
Cleavers. Solid cheesesteak in Center City with other options. 18th & Chestnut.
John’s Roast Pork. Widely considered to be one of the best cheesesteaks in the city, but consider the unsung hero of Philadelphia sandwiches: the Pork Italiano (roast pork, broccoli rabe, provolone). 14 Snyder Ave. (South Philly)
Pat’s. Good cheesesteak, but it’s more about the experience. Know what you’re ordering when you get in line, it moves fast. 9th & E. Passyunk (South Philly)
Chubby’s. If you’re up in our neighborhood, this is the place to go. Across the street, Dalessandro’s is often considered the best in the city, but you’ll wait a lot longer, and we think Chubby’s is just as good. 5826 Henry Ave.
